James Ocasio is a vice president and alternative investment product strategist at Fidelity Institutional®. Fidelity Institutional is a division of Fidelity Investments that offers investment insights, strategies, and solutions, as well as trading services to a wide range of wealth management firms and institutional investors. Fidelity Investments is a leading provider of investment management, retirement planning, portfolio guidance, brokerage, benefits outsourcing, and other financial products and services to institutions, financial intermediaries, and individuals.

Mr. Ocasio possesses a deep knowledge base across alternative investment strategies including but not limited to private equity, private credit, hedge funds, and real estate. Furthermore, he supports Fidelity Institutional’s distribution team and the advisors they serve, educating our clients on Fidelity’s alternative investment solutions and capabilities.

Prior to joining Fidelity, Mr. Ocasio was the alternative investment consultant of UBS Private Wealth Management’s Family Office Solutions group, a team that exclusively works with clientele of $100M net worth or greater. The position entailed manager selection and presentation of alternative investments to advisors and their UHNW clients which best fit their unique investment goals and objectives. From 2018 to 2022, Mr. Ocasio was the head of manager research at Hightower Advisors, a national RIA with greater than$120B in AUM. His core responsibilities were consulting advisors regarding best-in-class alternative investment solutions, managing the Hightower alternative investment platform, and heading the firm’s alternative investment due diligence and approval process. Prior to Hightower, Mr. Ocasio was employed at Fischer & Company, a NY based investment advisor serving private clients, foundations, endowments, retirement plans, and pension funds. Mr. Ocasio started his career at Federal Street Partners, a fund of hedge funds.

Mr. Ocasio graduated from New York University's Stern School of Business with a double major in finance and international business. Mr. Ocasio is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), and he also holds the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 7 and 66 securities licenses
